Honoring Melendez for this transformative work using music to inspire and bring people together in the Bronx, at a time when policymakers and lawmakers could not. Through his activism, commitment to peace, knowledge and cultural understanding, this Son of Da' Bronx has demonstrated what his heroes, the Beatles, championed, "All you need is love."

Castanet Connections with Innov Gnawa

A Moroccan band that originally settled in the Bronx, Innov Gnawa, will pro- vide trance-like music played with a variety of instruments including metal cas- tanets. Their performance will follow a set of flamenco castanet-accompanied songs featuring renowned Bronx dancer, Nelida Tirado.
