SPANK
SPANK, an acapella doo wop quartet, is based in New York City and has become one of the premier acts the City has to offer. They apply their superb vocal talents to perform songs of the great R&B vocal groups like the Temptations, the Miracles, the Four Tops and many more. In the summer of 1993, in the West Village, these gentlemen met in Washington Square Park, at a location called the Doo Wop Spot. It’s a section near the Washington Square Arch, where you will more than likely find some very talented singers, fans and old-timers gathered. As bands came and went, all four exchanged notes, joined on gigs, shook hands and made plans… on the road to SPANKDOM! Here are some of the places where SPANK has held court: Terra Blues, Ellen’s Stardust Diner, and Planet Reebok. SPANK was featured in Beatles producer Sir George Martin’s Rhythm of Life television series. They have appeared on television shows including: Conan O’Brien, Pat Bullard, Entertainment Tonight, Buskers (a documentary), ABC Millennium w/Peter Jennings, and radio programs 98.7 KISS FM with Dr. Dre & Ed Lover; and they also wowed ’em at Town Hall on Prairie Home Companion w/Garrison Keillor.
