Angel R. Rodríguez, Sr., Bronx Arts Activist & Latin Percussionist

Percussionist Angel Rodríguez is the founder of the original Living Legend tribute series held at The Point CDC. He has performed with bands such as Latin Jazz Coalition, La Timba de Ayer and Abrazos Orchestra.
The event will take place at Bronx Museum of the Arts.
Rodríguez has worked with various community organizations as an educator including The Point and Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center. An accomplished performing artist and a committed master drummer whose main goal is to preserve the traditional Afro-Cuban rhythms and to see young people become involved in the proper learning of African hand percussion, he has actively sought out, recruited, registered and auditioned hundreds of students for merit/talent scholarships. He can be seen in the PBS documentary, From Mambo to Hip Hop. He currently is part of the BMHC’s Music Advisory Board.
