Oxil Febles

Oxil Febles was born in El Barrio, NYC. She is an educator, poet, professional bomba and plena dancer, instructor, and choreographer. She is the founder of the not-for-profit organization Paso Negro. Among her contributions to preserve Afro-Puerto Rican culture, she founded Cokids of Puerto Rico Children’s Workshop. She directed the first Puerto Rico-based all-female bomba group called Nandí. Throughout her career, Oxil has collaborated with artists like William Cepeda and his Afrorican Jazz, Catalino “Tite” Curet Alonso, ““Restauración Cultural, Taller Yubá-Iré, CICRE, Son del Batey, Yerbabuena, Alma Moyo, RAICES Banco Popular Christmas Special, Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico, and the School of Fine Arts in Puerto Rico.
