Poetry and music by Hattie Gossett, Michael Wimberly, plus musical performance by Jenn Jade
Named in honor of the pioneering jazz vocalist who made the Bronx her home, the program will open with a poetry reading by Hattie Gossett, “jazzy old babe still poeting on the mike: excerpt from a one-woman show,” accompanied by Michael Wimberly. This will be followed by a performance by Jenn Jade Ledesna. Tonight we also celebrate the centennial of the birthday of the person many consider the greatest female jazz vocalist in history, Billie Holiday.
