Five Boro Story Project is a cultural organization dedicated to local and community storytelling in different neighborhoods across the city’s five boroughs. In 2013, BMHC partnered with Five Boro Story Project to present “I’m Tawkin’ Here: Storytelling with a New York Accent” at the BMHC Lab. The event this year was designed as a participatory story circle in response to or in conjunction with the President’s annual State of the Union address, in which local residents share stories about the current “state” of their own communities – in this case, their experiences in the Bronx. It was one of five events (one per borough) that Five Boro Story Project organized during the final week of January.
